Devi Patan Temple, Tulsipur, Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh

Devi Patan Temple is a very famous temple located in Tulsipur, which is about 25 km from the district headquarters of Balrampur.  It is the temple of Ma Pateshwari and goes by the name of Goddess Patan. This temple is one of the famous 51 Shakti Peethas of Ma Durga and is said to symbolize the love of Lord Shiva and Mata Sati. Angered by not seeing her husband Mahadev's place in the yajna of her father Prajapati Daksha, angry Sati gave up her life in anger. Shocked by this incident, Shiva destroyed the Daksha-Yajna and placed Sati's body on his shoulder and began to roam in the three worlds, then there was a disturbance in the world cycle. Then lord Vishnu cut various parts of Sati-dead body from Sudarshan-Chakra and dropped it at different places in India. Wherever parts of Sati's body fell on earth, Shaktipeeths were established there. The left wing part of Sati had fallen here. It is a place of great religious importance and is one of the prominent temples in the Terai region. It is very crowded during the Navratri period. People come here for their children's shaving ceremony. This temple is located to the west of Tulsipur city. Tulsipur is connected to the district headquarters of Balrampur by bus and train. If you are traveling by air, the state capital Lucknow is the nearest airport. Here, on the orders of Lord Shiva, Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath first worked for himself by worshiping Jagjanani for a long time by constructing a monastery for the worship of Goddess. Thus, this place is a Siddha Shaktipeeth as well as a Yogpeeth. On the Navratri festival of Chaitra month, the ride of Pir Ratan Nath Baba is taken on foot from the place called Dong Chaudhara, District of Nepal and is brought every year by the monks of the monastery to the court of Pataswari on the day of Panchami.
